Warrior Spirit

I have been thinking on how to start this subject off.  I do know and understand that after I am done with this topic that a few people are not going to agree with what I have to say but that is okay because that is what makes us different and it is okay to have your option no matter what it is or if in fact anyone else agrees with it or not.  We may not agree but we will have some common goals that we share and that is what brings us together.

The warrior spirit has so many different meanings and it would not be fair for me to try and say there is only one definition of it.  When in reality it has more than I think of.  This spirit is inside us and it lives with us day in and day out or even better it is part of us when we are training and when we are living our daily lives.  It is part of your being and you don’t have to be a martial artist to have it.  Yes that is right I said that.  It is inside you and it is different for each of us.

As for training it is very important to have as a marital artist.  I don’t care if you study a Japanese, Korean art or something else it is there even if you play a sport if your completive then you have it.  The warrior spirit is different and the same for everyone based on his or her needs.  Never for a second ever think that one art or style has a stronger warrior spirit in it because it is based on your goals and yours alone.  If anyone tells you that his or her style or art is better than everyone else’s then not only are they wrong but also stupid at the same time and yes I said stupid.   If you are brain washed in thinking that your style or art cannot be beaten it is very foolish on your part.  There is no such thing as the perfect style or art.  The art I study is something I enjoy and love to do and it works for me but also being realistic I also understand that it is not perfect and it has strong and weak points to it just like any other style or art has.  Times change things and so does the need change that is the evolution of any style or art that is just the way life is.  It does not mean to forget what has been passed down threw the years because it is part of what we are today we just need to improve on it and continue to grow.

Now after saying the above let me add something that is very important.  I feel strongly that everyone should learn what he or she could about the different styles or arts.  As we are different as people so is our ability to use different techniques.  What I am saying something that I can do and have confidence with is something that you may not or the other way around.   If your art for example does not like to kick but some one else’s art does and it works for you why not have it in your tool box?  Don’t restrict yourself to thinking just one way.  If for example kicking someone in the head is easy for you to do and you have the confidence to use it why should I tell you not to use it?  I would not kick that high and it does not mean it is wrong for you to do it.  I think this is one of the meanings for the warrior spirit.

Let this spirit come alive in side of you, let it grow and become so strong within you that you become a better person not only in life but also in spirit.

Be safe and train hard.
