Throws

We have talked a little about how to fall and roll and the importance of learning how to do both of them correctly but the other side of the coin is the person that is doing the throwing and that is just as important as learning how to fall.  As the person doing the throwing you are not responsible for how someone else falls or rolls but you are responsible for how and when and where they are thrown so it takes both of your working together to be in harmony and safe.

Now the key here is safe and just like with rolling and falling it takes time and practice to be able to do this.  You need to be throwing as many different people as possible because everyone is different when you throw them it is almost like finger prints everyone’s is different and so will the feel of throwing different for people.

You need to shadow the throwing techniques when you’re not in class so it becomes part of you and work towards being able to them without thought.  If you don’t allow them to become part of you it will make it difficult for you to throw safely and I can assure you if your being thrown you can feel what is going to happen with the throw which in turn could cause you to not relax and it just goes down hill from there.

You must relax and when you make the commitment to do a throw notice I did not say attempt but commitment to do a throw you must not hesitate or stop in the middle of the throw do to fear our doubt of what your doing keep your mind clear and remember your breathing and never hold your breath as your throwing just take air in and letting it out as your doing the technique.  I know it sounds easier then done but when you can do it the rewards will be worth it.  Now the reason I am saying this is because I have had a lot of people that when they try to throw me they hesitate or even stop in the middle of the throw because they lack confidence because they do not practice correctly and at the moment of truth I must transition to keep from getting hurt or thrown wrong and by doing this it does not build up confidence and makes you feel uncertain of what your doing.  The best thing is to train correctly and give 100% and never stop and you will surprise yourself at times on what you can achieve if you do.

See you in class.
