Meditation

I have found myself sitting here pondering on how I will explain my concept of meditation and I realize that meditation is much easier to do than explain with out making it sound complicated or not having you think you must be some kind of monk to be able to enjoy it.  It is important to understand that the gift of meditation is a different gift for everyone.  There is no set of rules that must be applied or you will not be able to enjoy the journey.  The key is it is your journey and yours alone and that is what makes it so wonderful.  We develop it so that it helps each of us in our own way.  At times we maybe looking for some of the same benefits of it but our paths to it will never be the same and the journey to it is your own.

When you are first starting meditation you must relax, some people call it meditation relaxation or conscious relaxation or pink elephant these are words that are more universally understood, more comfortable but it does not matter the key is to relax, okay maybe not pink elephant but you get my point.  I am constantly working towards the goal of discovering my own ability to reach the state of serenity.  Meditation is actually easier then you might image it cost nothing more than your time.  Most of us have dabbled a little in meditation by participation in maybe an exercise class or to manage pain or anxiety before a test.  We do this by starting to pay attention to our breathing and it starts by practical effort to focus completely on our breathing taking our minds away from the mind clutter that constantly tires to eliminate feelings that will lead to a time of calm.  With repeated effort the goal of clearing your mind so you think of nothing does and will occur and the process of meditation takes on its own energy and the results from this will be peace, serenity, calmness and eventually opening of yourself to new insights.

Too much stress, chill out, let it go, detach these are familiar to all of us.  Our world and lives are fast, fun, exciting and even sadness.  It is also challenging, trying, demanding and frightening.  These sides of our lives produce stress, emotional reaction, anxiety, worry and anticipation.  Our bodies and minds can tolerate so much of any of those and after a while we reach a saturation point becoming uncomfortable at best and for some it may be unbearable, even unendurable.  No magic pill or drink is available to eliminate these feelings we have.  The reality is the answer is inside all of us and to mange these universal concerns we must on inside ourselves to find the answer we need to over come them.

If you expect to try meditation for a short time and find all the answers I am afraid you are going to be disappointed, it takes time and faith in the commitment to practice it frequently, daily mediating is ideal if you can and during your meditation time you may have the moment a feeling of separation exists where the mind is clear, clean and blank.  You can and will still hear sounds around you, but they will not interfere with your meditation.

Sometimes you will feel truly refreshed or fall asleep you can even weep and be aware of what is causing you too.  Your emotions have a voice of their own and you will explore and discover it.  There is no right or wrong behavior during your meditation because it is your time for you.  You deserve this kind of personal attention and self-care activity loving oneself.  We can share this gift and give back as we give because we are all better because of each person who meditates.  The peace and joy we feel from it enters the world for all of us as a positive energy and from it the world is a better place and try to imagine if all of the world practiced meditation that is a world I would truly enjoy.
